Community Mental Health Services – Healing at-risk families

At Aviva, our Community Mental Health Services (CMHS) provides psychotherapeutic services that focus not only on the child but the family as a whole. Whether it is a child who has been physically abused or molested or a family facing the trauma of divorce or incarceration, CMHS can help the family weather the storm.

We provide a variety of mental health services, each uniquely designed to meet the specific needs of the child and family. Our therapists, case managers, coaches, and treatment teams are trained in the most effective therapies, and they travel to schools, homes and communities to ensure that our clients receive the best services at their most convenient location.

Outpatient Mental Health Services

Outpatient Mental Health Services is available to low income families living in the city of Los Angeles. Teams of qualified professionals develop plans and goals to resolve the specific problems facing the child and/or family.

Wrap-Around Services

Wrap-Around Services is designed to work with youth who are in danger of being removed from their home setting. A team of trained staff works intensively with the child and family members to address critical behavioral problems and try to stabilize the home situation so that the family can remain together

School-Based Services

School-Based Services has therapists traveling to over 10 school sites within the northeast and northwest regions of downtown Los Angeles to give at-risk students the clinical, emotional and behavioral support needed to succeed academically and maintain positive performance at school. Our therapists work directly with the teachers and school staff to address each student’s individual needs. In addition, therapists travel to the students’ homes to provide family therapy, which helps create a more positive home environment to support school success.

TBS

Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS) is a departure from a typical teenager counseling program. The TBS approach places trained staff, known as coaches, in a one-on-one relationship with the teenager. This method allows the staff to see and manage, in a positive and non-reproaching manner, the behaviors that have been identified as needing improvement. This direct, hands-on approach enables the teen to gain experience in responding more positively to situations that create conflict in daily living. These services are provided at home, in school, or wherever needed.

JJP/Gang Intervention

Juvenile Justice Program (JJP) is unique as it seeks out society's offenders in juvenile halls. Behind the gang tattoos and shaved heads are young men and women many of whom were abused or neglected for years by a trusted adult. Aviva’s skilled and dedicated professionals venture into these trenches, earn the trust of young offenders and offer them help to realize life’s many productive choices.

Gang Intervention works to prevent gang-involved youth from re-offending and engaging in gang activity that causes harm to themselves, to others and to property. This program operates collaboratively with the Los Angeles County Probation Department to provide parent support, youth support and community mobilization services. Successful delivery of services enhances parenting skills, strengthens the family unit and promotes responsible youth behavior.
