Community Mental Health Services (CMHS)

It is the goal of Community Mental Health Services (CMHS) to make psychotherapeutic services available to our community. These services include individual, family and group therapy. Programs not only focus on the individual, but their family as well. CMHS understands the needs of the families in our community and is striving to meet them in a culturally sensitive and effective manner. Whether it is the foster child struggling with the issues of abrupt removal from his or her home, or a family facing a divorce or incarceration, CMHS can help the family weather the storm. Our therapists are trained in the most effective therapies available today. Therapists and social workers go to the schools, homes and communities to see our clients. CMHS is truly an office without walls.

Outpatient mental health services are available to families living in the city of Los Angeles. A team of qualified professionals addresses each family situation differently. Behavioral plans and goals are created to meet the specific problems facing the child and/or family.
Systems of Care program that takes on the responsibility of coordinating the services a child may have available to him or her and ensure that all needs are being met. Such help includes psychotherapeutic services, and a range of life enhancing services that are individually tailored to each child.
Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS) program is a departure from typical teenager counseling programs. The TBS approach is to place trained staff in a one-on-one setting with the child. This method allows the staff to see and address, in a positive and non-reproaching manner, the behaviors that have been identified as needing improvement. This direct, hands-on approach by staff enables the child to gain experience in responding differently to situations that create conflict in daily living.
Juvenile Justice Program is unique because it seeks out the society's discarded young adults - juvenile offenders. Juvenile Hall is not a place one would think to provide psychological counseling services, but behind the gang tattoos and shaved heads are young men who were abused or neglected for years by parents and family. Aviva has skilled and dedicated professionals to venture into these trenches, gaining the trust of a young offender and offering help to realize other choices for his life.

Wrap-Around Services program is designed to work with the kids at-risk of placement into residential treatment homes. Before a child is removed from the home setting, a team of trained staff works intensively with the child and family members to address critical behavior problems and try to stabilize the home situation so that the family can remain together.
