It is with great sadness that Aviva Family and Children’s Services mourns the loss of our former board member and long-time friend and unwavering supporter, Sherman L. Andelson.
Sherman’s commitment to Aviva began in 1990 as a member of Aviva’s Board of Directors. He served as Aviva’s treasurer for more than 20 years. Sherman and his wife, Miriam who also served on the board, were among Aviva’s most ardent supporters – a legacy, they passed on to their son, Bruce, who continues to serve on our board.
Sherman’s philanthropy extended beyond Aviva. He was a founding member of the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art, a board member of the Los Angeles Free Clinic and a former Pension Commission for the Police and Firefighters of Los Angeles. Sherman was chair of the Bank of Los Angeles and the former managing partner of Kellogg & Andelson, an accountancy corporation.
A life-long native of Los Angeles, he was born in Los Angeles and was a graduate of the University of California Los Angeles. Sherman is survived by his wife Miriam, his son Bruce, a daughter Wendy, and their families, including four grandchildren (Sari, Lee, Stephany and Shelli) and one great grandchild Kai).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Aviva in Sherman’s memory. Click here to make a donation in his memory.
