Residential Treatment Programs and Group Homes

When a teenage girl arrives at Aviva's door, it is often her last chance to turn her life around. The reasons for her placement into residential treatment follow years of abuse, neglect, or abandonment. Girls at our residential treatment centers stay for a period of six to 18 months, and experience a total 24-hour treatment environment designed to meet their social, emotional, educational and familial needs.

For 36 girls, ages 12-18, the Wallis Annenberg Center is the place were each can receive therapy, staff guidance and support to make critical changes in her behavior and develop a sense of self-worth. The highly structured program addresses her social and behavioral problems throughout the entire day - not just during therapy sessions. During her stay at Aviva, she will learn how to make better choices and to build a stable and healthy emotional foundation on which to build her future.

Aviva's Milken Family Graduate House is designed for six adolescent girls who have improved their social behaviors and academic grades. They no longer need the intense structured living of Aviva's Wallis Annenberg Center. The Milken Family Graduate House staff work closely with the girls preparing for the next step -- emancipation or reunion with family. The focus for residents living in the Milken Family Graduate House is being mainstreamed back into the community through employment, volunteer opportunities or enrollment in public high school. Enrolling in Aviva's Independent Living Skills and Vocation Center program is another important step in a girl's growth and success.
